Bihu is the most important and widely celebrated festival of Assam. It reflects the rich culture, traditions, and joyful spirit of the Assamese people. Assam celebrates three major Bihus—Rongali (Bohag) Bihu, Kongali (Kati) Bihu, and Bhogali (Magh) Bihu.

Rongali Bihu marks the Assamese New Year and the arrival of spring. People wear traditional clothes, perform Bihu dance, sing Bihu songs, and enjoy traditional foods such as pitha, laru, and doi. Bhogali Bihu is associated with feasting and community celebrations, while Kongali Bihu is observed more solemnly with prayers and lighting lamps.
